Eveline van der Pas
In haar werk onderzoekt zij thema’s als kwetsbaarheid, kracht en de relatie tussen mensen en hun omgeving. Hoe afhankelijk zijn we van elkaar, en van de natuur om ons heen, waar we deel van uitmaken?
Schoonheid, kwetsbaarheid en kracht vormen samen een dynamisch trio. Licht bestaat dankzij duisternis, nabijheid wordt pas voelbaar door afstand, sereniteit staat tegenover chaos. Deze contrasten en nuances keren steeds terug in haar oeuvre. Van der Pas wil de kijker meenemen in haar nieuwsgierigheid over de plaats van de mens binnen het grotere geheel.
Zij is opgeleid als schilder, tekenaar, graficus en docent aan de Academie voor Beeldende Vorming in Tilburg. Momenteel werkt ze met inkten en Japans papier. In haar installaties gebruikt ze verschillende textiele technieken en natuurlijke materialen, aangevuld met elementen zoals water, licht, spiegels, projecties of geluid. Geluidsfragmenten bestaan vaak uit natuuropnames, muziek en soms in fragmenten versneden interviews.
Van der Pas werkt zowel in opdracht voor particulieren als instellingen. Haar atelier bevindt zich in Marsum. Ze werkt ook regelmatig op locatie. Zo is ze vanaf maart 2026 als artist-in-residence tot de zomer te gast in het Pier Pander Museum te Leeuwarden, waarna ze tot in de herfst aldaar exposeert. Eerder werkte en exposeerde ze regelmatig in Beijing en Wuhan. Ze geeft les aan de Kunstacademie Friesland in Leeuwarden, was gastdocent aan de Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University in Shandong, gaf les aan het Beeldhouwcentrum Koudum en diverse lerarenopleidingen in Amsterdam en Diemen.

In her work, she explores themes such as vulnerability, strength, and the relationship between humans and their environment. How dependent are we on one another, and on the nature around us, of which we are a part? Beauty, vulnerability, and strength together form a dynamic trio. Light exists thanks to darkness, proximity only becomes tangible through distance, and serenity stands in contrast to chaos. These contrasts and nuances recur throughout her oeuvre. Van der Pas aims to take the viewer along in her curiosity regarding the place of humanity in the lager scheme of things.
She trained as a painter, draughtswoman, graphic artist, and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tilburg. She currently works with inks and Japanese paper. In her installations, she uses various textile techniques and natural materials, supplemented by elements such as water, light, mirrors, projections, or sound. Sound fragments often consist of nature recordings, music, and sometimes excerpts from interviews.
Van der Pas works on commission for both individuals and institutions. Her studio is located in Marsum. She also regularly works on location. For example, from March 2026 until the summer, she is a guest artist-in-residence at the Pier Pander Museum in Leeuwarden, where she will subsequently exhibit until the autumn. Previously, she worked and exhibited frequently in Beijing and Wuhan. She teaches at the Friesland Art Academy in Leeuwarden, was a guest lecturer at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University in Shandong, taught at the Sculpture Centre Koudum, and various teacher training colleges in Amsterdam and Diemen.
